this is not that important i just feel like this is some kind of silly unlocked achievement for me but i just completed and posted my first kdrama fic omg??? and to think it's for OBS of all kdramas like... my first ever written (but unfinished) kdrama fic was for extraordinary you im pretty sure and i was super obsessed with that show for the longest time??? and then i wrote again for here's my plan but never finished it either and i loved that show to bits too? and then i planned all these fic ideas for my name because that kdrama ruined my life a little yet never rlly made those ideas come to life??? and even sweet home lmfao like i watched that show thrice i think and made plans to write fic but never did but our beloved summer??? i didn't even think i liked it That much compared to those four dramas but i guess i do after all!!! anyway, the fic i wrote was pretty short and bad but i just really wanted to write and post lol i have another idea for them but i dont think it's fully fleshed out nor will i be able to Actually write it because it's so vague but yeah!!! made obs fic and posted it at like 2AM :]

Vague question but how is your experience writing for k-drama fandom? Any thoughts? We're few and far between (and since I've only written one k-drama fic idk if I count) but yeah just curious.

Date: 2022-02-10 10:46 am (UTC)aaahhh i'm glad! i'm sure you'd have a lot of interesting opinions and thoughts :>
and hmmm this is a really good question!!! i think it's hard for me to say as well since i've also only officially posted one fic as of rn, but i think it's a pretty fulfilling experience / quite different as compared to writing kpop fic (what i usually write and post about). as of this moment, there's not a lot of fic for Our Beloved Summer yet so while it's kind of a bummer that i can't read a lot of fics for the pair i like, it's also pretty awesome(?) for me to be able to contribute something to the tag!!! idk but i'm always in awe of those writers who have fics that are one of the earliest ones in a fandom's ao3 tag so it's a little exciting!!!
i guess the only thing is that i kind of thrive off of comments and kudos (unfortunately :((() but it's not easy to receive them due to the lack of people in k-drama ao3!!! but what about you? :0 what are your thoughts and experiences? :DDD and ty for asking btw!

Yes, because you're blazing the trail :D
Yes OMG.
In my experience the few comments I got for the EOY fic were so lovely that I felt appreciated. And that fic has more engagement than some of my k-pop fics at this point, in terms of comments and kudos. I think the key is to give it time, because it doesn't fall off the first page of a tag as soon as a K-pop fic does. A k-drama tag is relatively dry so when you post a fic, with time it actually gets more readership and isn't as shortlived as a K-pop fic.
I did find that I got comments when I first posted the fic and now the fic only gets kudosed, and that's a pattern I've seen with k-pop fic too; people comment when the fic is new or barely has comments. Later readers are under no obligations or compulsions.
BTW, is that a Stray Kidz member in your icon? Changbin?

Date: 2022-02-11 10:06 am (UTC)aaaaaaahhh that's so cool!!! and u deserve all the engagement anyway on ur fics but that's interesting to know and also reassuring to hear :D tbh i wish there were more fic writers for kdramas because there are characters that i just love so much that i'm not ready to let go off yet, but i think the small community is somewhat nice too since it's very supportive T___T
and omg yeah that's something i observed too :((( readers tend to not comment anymore on older fics which is sad
yes!!! it's seo changbin from skz! do you listen to them? :]

Date: 2022-02-11 10:58 am (UTC)I wish we could have active, thriving AND supportive k-drama fandom. ALL THE NICE THINGS!
I occasionally listen to them and got to know them better through Kingdom. One of my friends stans them and we've had interesting conversations about them. This is a little strange/intriguing but he told me that ever since W00jin left, the rest of the members have been weird around Bang Chan. He's as affectionate as he generally is but they don't reciprocate in quite the same way that they used to, and they don't initiate affection, it's always him. Did you have any similar impressions?
